Ein Kyi Phyu (Catherine)
Writer
I am an aspiring writer from Yangon, Myanmar. After writing mainly about psychology for Burmese people for 3 years, I'm now stepping into the world of fictional writing.
Previous Projects
I started my fictional writing journey with Link the Wor(l)ds Literary Translation Workshop.
Under the leadership of Sayar Ko Ko Thett, a group of six members (including myself) translated ကိုရင်ငပိန် by Sayarma Chaw Ei Mahn from Myanmar to English.
The work is now published at Portside Review.
After the workshop, I realised that I needed to learn fiction writing systematically. For that reason, I took Telling Stories: The Art of Fiction course offered by Parami Institute of Continuing Education.
There, I explored different genres of fictions along with developing the plot and characters, editing the draft and publishing.
My final project can be found here.
While working at Parami University, I had an amazing opportunity to write about my own experience of living under the military rule.
Under the pseudonym "No No Ko", my article, "Nothing Major, Sir" was published in Reflections, 2023 Spring Issue.
You can read more about the publication here.
Currently, I'm writing short stories on We Read & Write, a community of like-minded young aspiring writers, while working on my own book called "I am a robot. Am I a robot?"
